HKSAA
was formed in 1985 by a group of Chinese Americans who had attended various
elementary schools, high schools or colleges in Hong Kong; thus, the name
Hong Kong Schools Alumni Association. The purpose was to form an association
to promote friendship and goodwill among alumni of Hong Kong schools through
activities that are of a social, recreational and/or educational, and
nonprofit nature. The Association's main activities each year consist of a
picnic and a dinner dance whereby by many former students form various Hong
Kong schools may network and have fun.
In the
past, HKSAA had set up scholarship funds at UC Berkeley and San Francisco
State University. HKSAA has also, in recent years, fundraised for the Hong
Kong Schools Alumni Federation in Los Angeles, a 501(C)(3) organization,
which provides scholarships to deserving Hong Kong students to pursue their
studies in the United States.
With
the help of talented individuals, elected board of directors, gracious
sponsors and volunteers such as you and me, HKSAA is able to achieve its
goal while produce exceptional entertainments for a fun and memorable
fundraising event each year. It has become one of the most momentous events
in the bay area that joined by hundred to thousand of people including
professional business and community leaders.
